This afternoon I put together the songs on CD and our lyric booklet for the 2011 program. I made a "magic book" for the lyrics, which is one sheet of paper, folded and cut to make a little book. I made one of these for my visiting teaching blog, which explains the process here.
You can download my lyric book here, but it does have the two songs we have chosen from the songbook in it, which are "I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus", and "God's Love". If you have chosen different songs, you could do an old-fashioned cut and paste to this, then photocopy for your own ward primary.
I may try and make a little envelope sleeve to put the book in, so the children have a place to protect it, when placing inside scripture bags and things. If anyone else makes something like this, please share how you do it!

I love the idea! I did something like that for just the teachers in Primary for the 2010 Program. They enjoyed having the lyrics because much of the time spent on singing is interrupted to take care of the kids.
ReplyDeleteI just started up my own primary blog. Check it out!

I love the lyric book. How do you get the inverted type?
ReplyDeleteNick
Thanks, Nick - do you mean the upside down text? I use InDesign to create my files.
ReplyDeleteHi Kristen, I just got called to this calling and I love your booklet. I am trying to replace the type with two other songs our presidency decided on but can't figure out how. Can you help?
ReplyDeleteThanks! Whitney
Whitney - you can't edit the pdf file (as far as I know). Email me your lyrics, and I'll send you a revised booklet. seemevt@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. And I'm officially jealous of Whitney. Will you do the same for me if I e-mail you lyrics to our other songs?
ReplyDeleteSure, Paula - I'd be happy to.
ReplyDeleteYay! Now I need to pick songs, huh? This may take a day or two. . .
ReplyDeleteKristin, where did you find the MP3 file for the new song for 2011, If I Listen With My Heart? We are making CD's as well for our primary and I can't find that song anywhere to download. Thanks. If you could send me an email that would be great! serenayancey@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI found my mp3s on Sugardoodle. Just google "primary 2011 songs" and you'll find the link.
ReplyDeleteKristin, Do you mind doing one more if I email you our additional songs?
ReplyDeleteNo problem - send em on over. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this! Glad I read the comments or I would have spent a lot of time trying to invert that type. :) Any way you could do one for me if I send you the lyrics to my songs?
ReplyDeleteSure Deb - email me at seemevt@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIs there any chance you could do one for me also? I can't figure out how to put our songs in.
ReplyDelete-heidi
Sure, Heidi. Just email me your lyrics!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little late on making a book but I would love to send you lyrics and make this book. Are you still up for it? -Emily
ReplyDeleteYes, Emily - I can do that for you. Email me!
ReplyDeleteKristin, you are one awesome sister! I'm so impressed that you are more than willing to create booklets for (on my last count) 5 people with no problem. I know how daunting it is to be the primary song leader. I've been doing it for 8 months and I still get at least one sleepless night a week trying to prepare for the next week's lesson. Your ideas have been a great help! I'm making my own book. Luckily, I'm very savvy with a computer, so I won't need to send you my lyrics. Thank you again!
